After weeks of anxiety, the application status updates have been flooding in. Today, I received notification that my application for admission to the Yale School of Management has been rejected. While Yale SOM’s emphasis on social impact through business was very appealing to me, their curriculum’s lack of courses in the area of technology/media product management and marketing made it a poor fit for my career goals. Also with the 30-40 admit deferrals from last year, target class size of 190 and huge increase in applications, I wouldn’t be surprised if their acceptance rate this year is the lowest in the country this year. Out of the four schools I applied to, Yale SOM was probably at the bottom of my list. The other three schools clearly have more to offer with regards to where I want to go with my career.
Good luck to everyone else hoping to get into Yale SOM!
Were you a R2 applicant? If so, at least they let you know early instead of making you wait until the R2 decision date of April 5th. I think most schools would have held on to that information until the decision date.
Best of wishes with your other school choices.
Chris
Yup, I was a R2 applicant. It’s definitely good to know sooner than later. Thanks for the encouragement and I wish you the best of luck too!
